Medicare Mental Health is a free service that connects you with the mental health support that is right for you. The national service is staffed by experienced mental health professionals who will listen to your needs and match you with support options tailored to your individual needs.

Medicare Mental Health is available for referrals, advice and support. These services provide access to a multidisciplinary mental health team and are designed to complement and supplement care from a GP.
Phone service
The Medicare Mental Health phone service (1800 595 212) is staffed by experienced mental health professionals who will listen to your needs and match you with support options tailored to your individual needs.
This may include:
- Connecting you with suitable services
- Directing you to follow-up care or support through a Medicare Mental Health Centre.
- Referring you to a specialist or acute mental health service (including emergency care)

Medicare Mental Health Centres
Medicare Mental Health Centres provide a welcoming place where everyone can access free and confidential mental health information, services, and supports.
They offer immediate support for people in distress, including their family and carers. Medicare Mental Health Centres are open extended hours, and no appointment or referral is needed.
