This Movember, primary care professionals have an opportunity to strengthen their skills and confidence in supporting men’s health through practical training and learning opportunities listed below.

Self-paced and CPD-accredited: Men in Mind training program
Men in Mind is a world-first online training program built to support health care professionals to get the most out of every interaction with male patients. Part of Movember’s work to change the face of men’s health, the course draws on leading research and the lived experiences of men to unpack how masculinities shape the way men seek help, communicate and engage in care.
Primary care professionals can play an important role in identifying and responding to men experiencing mental health challenges. Almost 8 in 10 Australian men see a GP each year, while 87% of men who died by suicide had accessed a health service in the year before their death.
Men in Mind provides practical tools to help health professionals build trust quickly during consultations and recognise atypical presentations of depression or suicidality.
For GPs, the training:
- Is free and government-funded
- Takes approximately 2.5 hours and is self-paced
- Is a RACGP-approved CPD activity, providing 2 hours of Educational Activities and 0.5 hours of Reviewing Performance
- Is ACRRM-accredited
- Introduces the M.A.L.E. Framework and includes scripted videos, conversation scripts and consult-ready worksheets
Separate equivalent courses are also available for nurses and pharmacists, making Men in Mind a useful learning opportunity for the broader practice team.
