The National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) Guidelines have now been updated to reflect best clinical practice in managing screen-detected abnormalities, screening in specific populations, and investigating abnormal vaginal bleeding.
While the new guidelines are now live and available, they will not be integrated into the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) until April 2025.
During this transition, clinicians should use their best judgment when applying the updated recommendations.
To support health professionals in understanding these changes, RACGP, in partnership with the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and the NCSP, is hosting a free webinar featuring leading experts:
- Dr Lara Roeske, Provost, RACGP Specific Interests & NCSP Self-collection Implementation Committee member
- Prof Deborah Bateson, Clinician researcher focused on eliminating cervical cancer in Australia and the Pacific
While the webinar is designed for general practitioners, all health professionals will benefit from this important update.
