About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and capable telephone-based Mental Health Clinician who is experienced in conducting mental health and risk assessments, and confident engaging with people across all ages and levels of need.

In this role, you will be a calm, trusted voice for callers navigating complex and often vulnerable situations. You will use your clinical judgement, intuition and empathy to understand each person’s unique circumstances and connect them to the most appropriate support.

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • Connect people to appropriate services, including those commissioned by EMPHN and the broader sector
  • Liaise with service providers, clinicians, and community supports
  • Use your sector knowledge to ensure people receive timely, appropriate care

This is a navigation-focused role, requiring strong understanding of the mental health service system and the ability to make informed, person-centred decisions.

About you

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in mental health assessment and risk assessment (telephone or telehealth experience highly regarded)
  • Strong working knowledge of the mental health and/or alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector
  • The ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including those presenting with complex needs
  • Confidence using telehealth platforms and secure communication tools
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work as part of a small, supportive team
