This morning, we were joined by Practice Managers and General Practitioners in the catchment for a special briefing hosted by Dr Stephen Duckett AM, EMPHN Board Chair.
This briefing offered a unique opportunity to gain insights into the recently released draft report from the Expert Advisory Panel on the Review of General Practice Incentives. Dr. Duckett provided an overview of the review’s findings and recommendations, which focus on assessing the effectiveness of the Practice Incentives Program (PIP) and Workforce Incentives Program (WIP).
The briefing highlighted proposed recommendations to enhance the alignment of general practice incentive programs with the Strengthening Medicare reform agenda. These recommendations aim to:
- Support structural reforms in general practice.
- Build financial capacity and systems capability.
- Promote flexible, team-based, and integrated primary care models to better meet community health care needs.
Participants had the chance to explore the implications of these reforms and understand how they may reshape the delivery of primary health care.
We’d like to thank Dr. Duckett and everyone who attended for being part of this important conversation.
