EMPHN is excited to announce the release of version 2 of the Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Guidance documentation and decision support tool (IAR-DST) as of July 1, 2024. This update, developed by the Department of Health and Aged Care, aims to enhance consistency and evidence-based practices in the Australian primary mental health system.
- Guidance Documentation: The updated IAR Guidance documentation offers comprehensive information on applying the IAR framework to different age groups presenting with mental health symptoms.
- Rating Guides: The release includes new and revised rating guides to assist practitioners in making accurate assessments for various age categories:
- Children (aged 5-11)
- Adolescents (aged 12-17)
- Adults (aged 18-64)
- Older Adults (aged 65+)
Training and Support:
- Existing Trainees: If you have already received training on the previous version, no additional training is required. However, for those seeking a refresher, please reach out to iar.info@emphn.org.au.
- Transition Support: Support for transitioning from Version 1.05 to Version 2 is available. The digital partner will be contacting organisations to facilitate the update of systems.
- New Training: If you are new to the IAR-DST, you can register for training through the IAR-DST for Mental Healthcare: Online Training.
