03 February 2026
Eastern Melbourne PHN is proud to celebrate Primary Health Care Nurses Day on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, acknowledging the invaluable contribution nurses make across Australia’s primary health care system.
Primary Health Care Nurses Day is an opportunity to recognise nurses across Australia who deliver essential frontline care for people outside hospital settings, including aged care, general practice, community health, schools, custodial care and other primary health care settings.
The 2026 theme, Essential at every stage, highlights the evolving role of nurses in prevention, early intervention, community connection, and integrated care – reflecting the growing importance of holistic, person‑centred support across the health sector.
Celebrations run on Wednesday 4 February 2026 are a chance for us all to champion the importance of primary health care nurses who support the health and wellbeing of millions of Australians.
For ways to promote and celebrate within your clinic, view the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) website.
Last year, we had the privilege of speaking with three practice nurses across the EMPHN catchment who generously shared their journeys into primary health care nursing. You can revisit their inspiring stories below.
