In response to the ongoing developments in the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) landscape, the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS) has published a comprehensive collection of new and updated resources for healthcare providers and the general public. These resources, crafted by NCIRS technical experts, are informed by the Centre’s robust research that contributes to immunisation policy, including its support of the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).
The resources, available through the NCIRS RSV landing page, cover a range of topics relevant to RSV management, prevention, and vaccination. As the RSV situation evolves, these resources will be regularly updated to ensure that healthcare professionals have access to the latest evidence-based information.
Notably, the release of these resources highlights the growing importance of RSV immunisation as part of Australia’s broader strategy to protect vulnerable populations, particularly infants and the elderly, from severe RSV infections. These updates aim to support vaccination providers with the most current information to enhance immunisation efforts across the country.
Key resources available:
- Information on RSV burden and prevention
- Details on new RSV vaccination products and programs
- Clinical guidance for healthcare providers
Additionally, NCIRS has made available a recording of its recent webinar, Australian RSV Immunisation Update – New Funded Programs for Infant Protection.
This informative session covered various important topics, including:
- The burden of RSV in infants
- The efficacy and safety of RSV immunisation products
- The introduction of the new National RSV Mother & Infant Protection Program (RSV-MIPP)
Healthcare professionals and the general public are encouraged to explore the newly available resources on the NCIRS website and access the webinar recording to stay informed as updates are released.
