Many simple fractures and soft tissue injuries in children can be safely managed through a physiotherapy-led virtual fracture clinic. This session will outline best practice management of upper and lower limb paediatric fractures including tips, tricks and unusual cases. There will also be an update on guidelines and resources available.

Presenter:

Dr Lucas Annabell is a Victorian and internationally trained Orthopaedic surgeon. He holds appointments at The Royal Children’s Hospital and The Alfred and is now well established at The Epworth and the new Adeney Private. Lucas’ areas of speciality include hip preservation, hip replacement, baby and adolescent hips, paediatric fractures and limb reconstruction.

Learning outcomes:

  • Identify common paediatric upper limb injuries including guidelines for treatment
  • Identify common paediatric lower limb injuries including guidelines for treatment
  • Describe the evidence base behind virtual fracture clinics in primary orthopaedic care
