The Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain (EPP) Care Navigator service

09 July 2026

Following allegations reported by the ABC’s Four Corners program regarding former Melbourne gynaecologist, Dr Simon Gordon, the Australian Government has ensured support is available for people who may benefit from additional help navigating their care.

About the EPP Care Navigator Service

The Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain (EPP) Care Navigator service provides free, confidential support to help people understand care options, connect with services and coordinate next steps through their GP or, where a patient does not have a regular GP, assist the patient to find and identify appropriate care pathways. The service recognises that navigating care after a difficult or distressing experience can be challenging. It aims to make it easier for people to connect with the right care in a supportive, person-centred way.

 Who is Eligible?

The service is available to women who were previously patients of former Dr Simon Gordon. People who meet this eligibility criterion can choose whether or not to seek support, and evidence of being a former patient is not required.

What EPP Care Navigators do?

EPP Care Navigators provide a single, consistent point of contact to help coordinate care and reduce the need to repeat information across different services, They:

  • Help people understand the care options available to them,
  • Talk to patients about what support they’re looking for and develop tailored plans to access the support they need,
  • Assist with referrals and connections across primary, specialist and mental health services
  • Work alongside GPs, specialist clinics, and existing services to support a coordinated, person-centred care pathway; and
  • Support a “no wrong door” approach to accessing care.

Please note: EPP Care Navigators provide coordination and guidance only. They do not deliver clinical care or replace a person’s GP.

How to access the service?

Eligible women can self-refer by contacting their local EPP Care Navigator directly, or be referred through their GP, another health professional, or the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Surgery Concerns Line.
