The MyMedicare National Consumer Campaign is scheduled to start in February 2024. Here are some tips to help support your team to be ready.
- Get ready for patient enquiries
- Use the following Community Stakeholder Information Kit that provides FAQs, practice resources, newsletter article and social media resources: MyMedicare – Community stakeholder information kit (health.gov.au)
- Patient eligibility
- Reminder that not all your patients will be eligible for MyMedicare. Before you invite patients to the program, review the following patient eligibility requirements for MyMedicare:
- a Medicare Card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran Card
- face-to-face visits recorded with the same practice, including either:
- one face-to-face visit for practices in remote locations (MMM 6 and 7)
- two face-to-face visits for practices in other locations in the previous 24 months.
- People who are facing hardship will be exempt from all eligibility requirements. This includes people experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness.
- Parents/guardians and children can be registered at the same practice if one of them is eligible and registered. A parent/guardian must register a child under 14 years and provide consent on their behalf. Young people aged 14 to 17 years can register and provide consent without a parent/guardian.
- Reminder that not all your patients will be eligible for MyMedicare. Before you invite patients to the program, review the following patient eligibility requirements for MyMedicare:

- If you are yet to register, consider for now if you haven’t already, registering your practice in the organisation register through PRODA. The organisation register will enable your health organisation to register and participate in multiple Government Healthcare Programs, such as MyMedicare.
