The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is seeking feedback from residential aged care providers, workers, residents and allied health professionals on the design of a new allied health needs assessment tool for residential aged care.
The tool aims to help providers to:
- identify when a resident needs to see an allied health professional i.e. physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietitian, speech pathologist, podiatrist
- monitor whether residents’ allied health needs are being met
- report data on the allied health quality indicator data point ‘percentage of recommended allied health services received’.
Your feedback will help create a tool that:
- ensures residents receive appropriate allied health care
- uses best practice in line with up-to-date evidence
- supports aged care providers to meet quality standards
