As part of Eastern Melbourne PHN’s commitment to deliver more value to GPs, we are undertaking a project that provides GPs with clinical data for reflection and to potentially improve patient care.
GPs will receive condition specific reports based on information captured from your clinical software via POLAR. GPs can then choose to engage with this report in different ways, ranging from seeing how their data compare to their peers (in a reflective, non-punitive way), to using this as an in-depth opportunity for quality improvement (QI) and CPD (e.g. measuring Outcomes activity).
Together with our research partner, Monash University, we are currently exploring how these reports can best meet the needs of GPs. We are seeking your input to test and refine prototype feedback materials prior to implementation in a study called “Clinical care insights for use in general practice”.
Who can participate?
GPs working in practices within the EMPHN catchment area, currently using POLAR.
What does study participation involve?
If you agree to take part, you will be asked to participate in 2 semi-structured interviews over Zoom in November and December 2024 with a member of our team, at times convenient to you (including after hours). In each interview you will be shown prototype feedback reports or other quality improvement materials, and asked to comment on their acceptability, design, and how they could be improved for maximum usefulness. Interviews are likely to take 45-60 minutes.
What are the benefits of participating?
Your participation will provide important insights to iterate and refine feedback materials. Once implemented, the materials will also be evaluated for acceptability and feasibility among your peers. Your input will improve the material’s relevance, effectiveness and usefulness for the benefit of other GP end users. Participants will receive a $155 gift card per interview as a token of appreciation.
