BBPIP Q1 payments have been issued

The first quarter payments for the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP) have now been processed. Practices and providers registered for BBPIP and who have met all eligibility criteria should now have received their initial payment.

If your practice did not receive its payment and you believe all requirements were met, you should:

  1. Confirm your practice accreditation status
Ensure your accreditation is correctly recorded and current within your Organisation Site Record via Health Professional Online Services (HPOS). View resource on amending practice accreditation in HPOS here (slide 8).
Important: When updating details, make sure to ADD new information rather than amending existing fields.
  2. Look for HPOS notifications
If you are a registered practice who was eligible but did not receive payment, you will have received a notification in your HPOS inbox. This may provide further detail on the action required.

If your providers did not receive their payment and you believe all requirements were met, you should ensure your providers:

  1. Confirm their provider individual bank details are entered in their PRODA account
Payments to individual providers will not be released unless they have added their banking information via their own PRODA account. View resource on adding provider bank account details for BBPIP here.
  2. Look for HPOS notifications
If your registered provider who was eligible but did not receive payment, they will also have received a notification in their HPOS inbox. This may provide further detail on the action required.

New national bulk billing campaign launched

To support the recent expansion of Medicare bulk billing incentives, the Australian Government has launched a nationwide advertising campaign to highlight improved access to bulk billed care. This follows the introduction of the BBPIP and broadened patient eligibility for bulk billing incentives under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).

The campaign aims to raise public awareness of where and how Australians can access bulk billed services, helping connect communities with the care they need.

The National campaign includes

  • Interactive map of bulk billing practices which helps patients locate nearby clinics offering bulk billing. View map here.
  • 15‑Second television and digital advertisements designed to increase understanding of strengthened bulk billing supports. View resources here.
  • A suite of downloadable bulk billing resources to assist practices to promote the campaign to patients. View resources here.

More information and campaign materials can be found here.
