Join Leashey’s Legacy for an evening of candid and evidence-based discussions on hormones, aging, and mental health. This event is designed for women seeking to understand the impact of hormones on their wellbeing, with insights from internationally renowned medical experts.  Led in conversation by local podcaster Meg Durham.

What to expect

  • Welcome and Refreshments: Enjoy a complimentary drink and snacks upon arrival. Participate in door prize draws and a silent auction with exciting items.
  • Expert Talks and Q&A: Listen to Professor Jayashri Kulkarni (in-person) and Dr. Louise Newson (on-screen), followed by a question-and-answer session.

Guest speakers

Professor Jayashri Kulkarni is a leading researcher in women’s mental health. She is a Professor of Psychiatry at Monash University and The Alfred. Her work focuses on how reproductive hormones affect mental health, leading to new treatments for women. In 2019, she was awarded the Order of Australia for her contributions to psychiatry.

Dr. Louise Newson (on-screen) Dr. Louise Newson is a menopause specialist and part of the UK Government’s Menopause Taskforce. She is dedicated to increasing awareness of menopause and helping women take control of their health during this phase of life.

About the organisers

Leashey’s Legacy is dedicated to raising awareness about women’s health challenges that impact daily life. The group honours Alicia, a beloved friend, mother, daughter, and sister, by advocating for women’s health issues.

Getting to the event

Methodist Ladies’ College (MLC) is easy to reach by public transport:

  • Tram: Route 16 stops right outside MLC on Glenferrie Road. This tram connects with routes 70, 72, 75, and 109.
  • Train: Glenferrie Railway Station is a 10-minute walk from the venue and is served by the Belgrave, Lilydale, and Alamein lines, providing quick access to the Melbourne CBD.

Parking: A limited amount of parking is available on campus. It is recommended to park on Barkers Road or nearby streets, following local parking rules.
