SESSION ONE: The 715 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessment

Learning outcomes: 

  • Identify and implement appropriate policies and initiatives regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health to optimise outcomes
  • Identify and promote ways to achieve health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Identify and promote social, environmental and cultural determinants of health in the local community
  • Facilitate timely and appropriate use of relevant Indigenous-specific health measures and MBS/PBS items

SESSION TWO: Small, mighty and lost – the MBS numbers we are all missing

Learning outcomes: 

  • Define a planned and opportunistic approach to provide health screening, preventive care and health-promotion activities in a culturally appropriate way
  • Identify and promote ways to achieve health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

SESSION THREE: Care plans and chronic disease – the MBS update

Learning outcomes: 

  • Develop chronic disease management plans that address the interactions and complications of multisystem disease and the use of multiple medications
  • Identify appropriate Medicare item numbers that assist in the management of chronic disease
