On June 27, 2024, EMPHN hosted a comprehensive Initial Assessment & Referral (IAR) training and networking event in South Morang. Supported by EMPHN's GP Engagement team, this event was a prime opportunity for healthcare professionals to gain valuable knowledge and connect with peers.

Local GPs gathered to exchange experiences and insights, enhancing their understanding of mental health care. Guest speakers from Whittlesea Mental Health & Wellbeing Local provided expert insights into mental health and well-being, offering attendees an enriching perspective on current practices and advancements. The training session featured the newly updated IAR Decision Support Tool, along with discussions on new age adaptations. Participants appreciated the interactive format, which included hands-on activities designed to apply the latest tools and methodologies in a practical setting.

Eligible GPs who participate in these sessions will receive a $300 payment and accrue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, including 1.5hrs Education Activity and 0.5hrs Reviewing Performance.
