General Practice staff, including receptionists, nurses and GPs, are often the first experience of health service provision for people from refugee backgrounds. The way General Practice staff support these clients/patients will play a significant role in health and other outcomes.

The workshops will focus on:

  • the refugee journey and settlement issues for people from refugee backgrounds;
  • trauma-informed approaches to engaging and supporting clients/patients;
  • identification, eligibility, and access to health services in Victoria; and
  • engaging language services and perspectives around health literacy will also be covered.

The workshops are in two parts, running June 19th and 26th @ 9.30-11.00am.

Open to all staff, including medical and practice support, located within general practice clinics.

NO PRE-PREQUISITE REQUIRED.
