SUMMARY:Melbourne National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Dinner Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAttend the Melbourne Marriott Hotel for this in-person workshop with dinner and drinks served on arrival. \n\n\n\nGeneral practitioners\, practice staff and Aboriginal healthcare workers play a vital role in promoting the importance of early detection of bowel cancer by encouraging and endorsing participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. \n\n\n\nThis practical workshop explores bowel cancer screening in people who are hesitant to screen. You will engage in case discussions to explore the barriers to screening and some of the enablers that you or a practice team can implement to encourage screening within your practice. \n\n\n\nWe have also designed activities to get your team started on an audit for bowel cancer screening within your clinic and identify practice improvements. \n\n\n\nPlanning an audit is often the most challenging step. We break it down and provide tools to get you started to ensure success. Mini audit templates will be provided\, and a Plan-Do-Study-Act activity will be explored in more detail. \n\n\n\nLet’s work together to help increase bowel cancer screening in our communities. \n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\n\n\nAt the completion of this workshop\, you will be able to: \n\n\n\nOutcome 1: Identify practices that support engaging patients in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program \n\n\n\nOutcome 2: Determine system improvements within practices to improve patient engagement with the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program \n\n\n\nOutcome 3: Identify and apply Practitioner and Practice Toolkit Resources that support mini-audit and/or plan\, do\, study\, act (PDSA) activities \n\n\n\nRead more.

SUMMARY:Helping patients with opioid dependence thrive: a toolkit for GPs
DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMedication-assisted treatment for opioid dependence has been found to improve retention in treatment and reduce illicit opioid use\, but it is common for patients to relapse multiple times before achieving sustained recovery. \n\n\n\nHelping patients to thrive and achieve a better quality of life can help establish the recovery capital needed to prevent relapse and contribute to lower rates of overdose and improve overall health. \n\n\n\nThis interactive program presents considerations and tools to help GPs support recovery at key stages of treatment. \n\n\n\nLearning objectives \n\n\n\n\nImplement a model of shared decision making for treatment initiation\n\n\n\nIdentify opportunities for addressing psychosocial factors to improve treatment engagement\n\n\n\nIdentify considerations for discharge planning
