DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNurse Practitioners and Advances Practice Nurses are invited to attend an upcoming joint webinar by ACNP and ASHM.  \n\n\n\nStrengthening STI and BBV Prevention through Nursing Practice will provide nurse practitioners with practical strategies to support the prevention\, screening and management of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and blood-borne viruses (BBVs)\, particularly HIV PrEP in contemporary healthcare settings.  \n\n\n\nThis webinar will explore current epidemiological trends in Australia and examine the critical role in identifying opportunities for STI and BBV prevention\, testing and early intervention.  \n\n\n\nParticipants will gain an overview of priority populations\, routine screening practices\, and approaches to initiating culturally safe\, person-centred conversations about sexual health.  \n\n\n\nA key focus of the session will be HIV prevention\, including the role of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in reducing HIV transmission.  \n\n\n\nAttendees will learn how to identify patients who may benefit from PrEP\, undertake baseline assessments\, support ongoing monitoring\, and incorporate HIV prevention strategies into routine clinical care.  \n\n\n\nPractical guidance and clinical resources will be highlighted to support confidence in decision-making and implementation.  \n\n\n\nThrough case studies\, participants will strengthen their knowledge and confidence in delivering evidence-based prevention strategies and advocating for equitable access to care.  \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION CODE Please note that this webinar will ask for a payment code\, if you have signed up to ASHM please use ‘ASHM11’ when registering.  \n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes: \n\n\n\nOn completion of this course and its components\, participants will be able to:   \n\n\n\n\nDescribe current STI\, BBV and HIV epidemiological trends in Australia\, including priority populations and opportunities for prevention.  \n\n\n\nExplain the role of HIV PrEP as part of comprehensive STI and BBV prevention\, including patient suitability\, baseline assessment and ongoing monitoring.  \n\n\n\nApply evidence-based\, culturally safe strategies to support patient education\, shared decision-making and referrals for STI\, BBV and HIV prevention in nursing practice.
