SUMMARY:GASP presents\, Anticoagulation\, Bleeding and Catastrophic Terminal Events – What do we do at home?
DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Banksia Palliative Care experts for the third instalment of the Generalist Advanced Shared Palliative Care (GASP) program. \n\n\n\nThis session will focus on bleeding in palliative care\, including ongoing or recurrent bleeding and preparation for catastrophic terminal events. \n\n\n\nSignificant visible bleeding in a person living with incurable conditions can be highly distressing for patients\, families\, carers and responding health professionals. While catastrophic terminal events are uncommon\, they can be potentially predictable and require thoughtful preparation. \n\n\n\nOngoing or recurrent bleeding can also occur in people with advanced illness and may be further complicated by anticoagulation\, DVT prophylaxis and other prescribing considerations. \n\n\n\nThrough the GASP program\, Banksia Palliative Care aims to strengthen shared care between GPs\, palliative medicine specialists and local community palliative care services\, supporting better outcomes in complex palliative care scenarios. \n\n\n\nLearning outcomes\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrate quality and appropriate deprescribing in palliative care.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate management of ongoing and/or recurrent bleeding in palliative care.\n\n\n\nIdentify additional preparation for management of catastrophic terminal events in a patient’s home.\n\n\n\nDevelop professional connection with local Community Palliative Care service.\n\n\n\n\nA sushi dinner is included in the program\, so please specify dietary requirements within booking. \n\n\n\nPlease contact the Learning Centre Team on learningcentre@banksiapalliative.com.au or 9455 0822 for more information. \n\n\n\nCPD accreditation approved\n\n\n\nThis activity attracts up to 3.5 CPD hours\, comprising 2 hours Educational Activities (EA) and 1.5 hours Reviewing Performance (RP). See CPD hours details below: \n\n\n\n\nPre-work only (case study reflection): 1hr RP\n\n\n\nF2F event only: 2hr EA + 0.5hr RP\n\n\n\nPre-work and F2F event: 2hr EA + 1.5hr RP (1hr RP from the pre-work case study reflection and 2hr EA +0.5hr RP from the F2F event)\n\n\n\n\nSubmission of the 1-hour pre-work case study reflection is required as evidence for EMPHN to record the full 1.5 hours RP and issue the final certificate totalling 3.5 CPD hours. \n\n\n\nAttendees who do not complete and submit the pre-work will only be awarded 2.5 CPD hours for attending the face-to-face event.
