DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe IAR Guidance (IAR) and Decision Support Tool (IAR-DST) is designed to establish a national\, standardised approach to conducting initial mental health assessments\, and support general practitioners and other health professionals to recommend the most appropriate level of care for a person seeking mental health support. The IAR and the IAR-DST are an Australian Government Department of Health\, Disability and Aging initiative bringing together information from various sources\, including Australian and international evidence and advice from various leading experts. \n\n\n\nOnline live workshopThe first component of the workshop will focus on:– An introduction to the IAR and the development of the suite of guidance documentation\, including stepped care in Australia.– Orientation to the domains\, levels of care\, and decision support tool. \n\n\n\nThe second component of the workshop is an interactive practical activity\, which includes:– Application of the IAR-DST using a consumer scenario.– Clinical judgement and supported decision-making. \n\n\n\nLearning outcomes1. Discuss the principles underpinning the national approach to stepped care.2. Summarise the IAR development process.3. Explain the use of the IAR Guidance in practice settings to generate a recommended level of care.4. List the levels of care in relation to available regional services5. Identify the principles related to clinical decision making and consumer choice \n\n\n\nThe workshop will be facilitated by an experienced IAR Training and Support Officer (TSO) from the National TSO Network.The session teaches you how to use the IAR-DST\, not how to conduct an assessment. The IAR-DST is not an assessment tool; it is a decision aid. Once you have completed a session you are able to use all adaptations of the IAR-DST.

DESCRIPTION:Date\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganiser\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin our expert panel featuring Prof David Hare and GP Dr. Amitabh Ilango\, for a virtual roadshow exploring the latest evidence in the identification\, assessment and management of cardiovascular (CVD) risk on 1 April 2026 6:30 – 8pm (AEST)  \n\n\n\nFollowing the success of 15 national roadshows delivered to general practice teams across Australia\, the Heart Foundation is excited to continue our journey with our next roadshow\, delivered in collaboration with Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (EMPHN). \n\n\n\nTailored specifically for primary health professionals in the EMPHN region\, this dynamic\, 90-minute workshop will feature live presentations and audience Q&A with local clinical experts\, exploring the practical application of the 2023 Australian Guideline for assessing and managing cardiovascular disease risk and Aus CVD Risk calculator. The roadshow is aimed to equip you with the latest evidence and advice to support you with the identification\, assessment and management of CVD risk in your patients. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives include:  \n\n\n\n\nIdentify and assess risk factors on the latest clinical risk assessment recommendations incorporating new evidence on CVD risk factors\, imaging and biomarkers\n\n\n\nNavigate local referral pathways for CVD risk factor management and review\n\n\n\nDescribe strategies for the management of high blood pressure and cholesterol\, nutrition and other lifestyle support strategies\n\n\n\nSummarise application of Heart Health Checks\, including available resources for the general practice team. Participants will be encouraged to systematically embed Heart Health Checks as part of routine care.\n\n\n\n\nThis activity has been accredited by the RACGP and ACRRM for 1.5 Educational Activity CPD hours.
